Anime Alley Shipping Protection Terms & Conditions

1. What Shipping Protection Is
Shipping Protection ("Protection") is an optional add-on service offered by Anime Alley Inc. ("Anime Alley," "we," "us") at checkout. When added to an eligible order, it provides coverage for certain transit-related issues as described below, subject to these Terms. Protection is a service, not an insurance policy, and is administered solely by Anime Alley at our discretion.

2. Eligibility
Protection applies only to the order it was purchased on, only to items shipped to the address entered at checkout, and only when the Protection fee was paid in full. Protection does not carry over to replacement shipments, reships, or future orders. We reserve the right to decline, limit, or refuse Protection on any order.

3. What Is Covered
Subject to the exclusions and limits below, Protection may cover:

  • Lost in transit — the package is confirmed by the carrier as lost, or shows no tracking movement for at least seven (7) consecutive days domestically or twenty (20) consecutive days internationally.
  • Theft — the package is marked "delivered" by the carrier but was not received, where reasonable evidence of theft is provided.
  • Transit damage — the item arrives physically damaged as a direct result of handling during shipping.

4. What Is Not Covered
Protection does not cover, and Anime Alley accepts no liability for, any of the following:

  • Incorrect, incomplete, or undeliverable shipping addresses provided by the customer;
  • Packages successfully delivered to the address provided;
  • Delays of any kind, including carrier, customs, weather, or peak-season delays;
  • Customs duties, import taxes, brokerage fees, seizures, or refusal of delivery;
  • Items damaged after delivery, or damage the customer cannot demonstrate occurred in transit;
  • Minor cosmetic imperfections to outer packaging, shipping boxes, or sealed-product wrap that do not affect the item itself;
  • Differences in condition, grading, centering, or expectations not amounting to physical transit damage;
  • Claims filed outside the window in Section 6;
  • Orders where Protection was not purchased;
  • Any loss arising from customer error, third-party interference, or events outside Anime Alley's reasonable control.

5. Coverage Limit
Protection covers eligible orders up to a maximum of CAD $500 per order. Orders exceeding this value are not fully covered by Protection and should be shipped with insured and/or signature-required service; contact us before ordering for high-value coverage options. In no event will Anime Alley's total liability under Protection exceed the lesser of the item's purchase price or CAD $500.

6. Claim Window
All claims must be submitted to support@animealley.ca within thirty (30) days of the order date. Claims for lost or stalled packages may not be submitted until the waiting periods in Section 3 have passed. Claims submitted outside this window will not be honoured.

7. Required Documentation
The customer must provide all information we request to assess a claim, which may include: the order number; clear photographs of the item and all packaging (for damage claims); a signed statement confirming non-receipt (for theft or loss); and, for theft claims over CAD $100, a police report or case number. We may deny any claim where requested documentation is not provided within seven (7) days of our request.

8. Resolution — At Our Sole Discretion
Where a claim is approved, the remedy is determined solely by Anime Alley and will be one of the following, selected by us:

  • Reshipment of the same or a comparable item, subject to availability;
  • Store credit equal to the affected item's purchase price; or
  • A refund to the original payment method.

Store credit or reshipment is our preferred remedy. Cash refunds are issued only at our discretion and only where reshipment and store credit are not practical. The Protection fee itself is non-refundable in all circumstances. Shipping charges and the original Protection fee are not reimbursed as part of any claim.

9. Limitations
Protection covers the cost of the affected item only. It does not cover, and Anime Alley is not liable for, any incidental, consequential, sentimental, collector, resale, or speculative value, nor any loss of profit, opportunity, or appreciation. Approval of one claim does not entitle the customer to approval of any future claim.

10. Fraud and Abuse
We reserve the right to investigate any claim and to deny claims we reasonably believe to be fraudulent, exaggerated, or abusive. Customers with a pattern of claims may be refused Protection or service entirely. Filing a false claim may result in account suspension and forfeiture of remedies.

11. Relationship to Carrier and Returns
Protection is separate from carrier liability and from our standard returns policy. Purchasing Protection does not waive or expand any rights or remedies you may have under applicable consumer protection law. Where mandatory consumer law conflicts with these Terms, that law prevails to the minimum extent required, and the remainder of these Terms stays in effect.

12. Changes
We may update these Terms at any time. The version in effect at the time of your order governs your order.
